STEEL INDUSTRY: ITAC Investigation.
NOTICE OF INITIATION OF THE INVESTIGATION INTO THE ALLEGED DUMPING OF "FLAT-ROLLED PRODUCTS OF IRON OR NON-ALLOY STEEL, OF A WIDTH OF 600 MM OR MORE, CLAD, PLATED OR COATED, PAINTED, VARNISHED OR COATED WITH PLASTICS (“COLOUR-COATED STEEL”) CLASSIFIABLE UNDER TARIFF SUBHEADINGS 7210.70.20, 7210.70.30, 7210.70.40 AND 7210.70.90 ORIGINATING IN OR IMPORTED FROM THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA (“CHINA”).
Dear Steel Industry employer
On 17 December 2025, the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (dtic) published a Notice regarding the investigation of flat-rolled products of iron or non-alloy steel originating in or being imported from China that are being dumped on the Southern African Customs Union market (SACU) in the Government Gazette for public comment.
Employers within the import and export industry and any other representative associations being affected by this dumping and the peril caused by it, and who have not yet received the relevant questionnaire and application from the Commission, are requested to obtain same from Dr. Regina Peta at RPeta@itac.org.za and Ms. Mosa Sebe at MSebe@itac.org.za.
Relevant responses to the questionnaire and arguments regarding this investigation should be submitted in writing to the following address by 16 January or 30 days after the questionnaire has been received:
